The option for people who need to work with diagrams without installing anything.

Visio Plan 1 runs entirely in the browser, so it opens from any office computer, from home or from a borrowed laptop, with nothing more than a sign in.

It creates and edits flowcharts, org charts, process maps, basic network diagrams and simple layouts, using the most common templates and shapes.

Several people can work on the same diagram at once, with comments inside the file, exactly as they would in Word or Excel online.

Diagrams are saved in the cloud and embedded in Teams, so the documented process lives in the channel where the team works.

It is the right licence for anyone who reviews, updates and shares diagrams, or for a team collaborating on something someone else built.

The limit should be clear, though: Plan 1 does not include the Visio desktop application, the full set of advanced templates, diagram linking to Excel or Power BI data, or AutoCAD file import.

Whoever builds the company's complex diagrams needs Plan 2.

The arrangement that works best is combining them: the process or technology lead sits on Plan 2, and the rest of the team who only review and adjust sit on Plan 1, which costs considerably less.
