Office 365 E1 Plus solves exactly that: it takes Office 365 E1 and adds Microsoft Entra ID P1 and Microsoft Intune.

With Entra ID P1 you control who signs in to company systems, from where and under what conditions, with multifactor authentication and conditional access.

With Intune you manage and protect the devices those people use, including the personal phones they check work email on.

The rest is full Office 365 E1: business email with a 50 GB mailbox, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Forms and Bookings, with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in their web and mobile versions.

Desktop applications are not part of this plan. Anyone who needs them belongs on Office 365 E3 or Microsoft 365 E3.

It is the right licence for plant, store, field and operations staff in organisations that have raised their security standard and cannot leave anyone outside it.

And since there is no user cap, it mixes freely with E3 or E5 licences in the same tenant.
